The flooring is ceramic tile that looks like wood. The rest of the interior colors are neutral with accents of green, rust and deep orange. Our old shutters were dating our home, so I removed the rails and installed new shutters right on top of the old.
With low profiles and a muted design, the trees and trellis add interest without overwhelming the single-story space. A cheery red color welcomes visitors, while half walls offer spaces for entryway task lights. An all-white color scheme proves the perfect match for this stunning mid-century-style ranch home. Creating a beautiful exterior isn’t just about adding more; sometimes you need to scale back! Removing trees and a few windows made a huge difference to the curb appeal of this southern charmer. This home is modern with its large windows and doorway, metallic finishings, and sharp peaks. It’s softened by the rustic wood beams, stone, and landscaping. The color does look different depending on the amount of light. On bright sunny day it looks more silver and on a grey day – a darker grey.
#14 // Modern Rustic Balance
We had to put up plastic sheeting around the entire porch so it could dry without getting wet from the rain. If you choose a dry couple of days where it isn’t too hot, this is definitely a do-able project for a DIYer that has tiled before. Over the course of a few weekends, we painted the brick exterior of our home. This was a big job and it really paid off to do it ourselves. I opted to roll the entire thing to make sure we would get a nice even coat over all the nooks and crannies, and it cost around $400 for paint and supplies. Kitchen Remodeling
A double row of staggered-height hedges lines the walkway, supplying both a border and pretty greenery. For added visual direction, the homeowners painted the front door a stunning, rich black, flanking it with elegant containers and flowering topiaries. Hi Jimmy – I am sorry, but I don’t have any interior photos of the house. I have been in it and they did quite a lot of updating. Since there were no load bearing walls in the house, they could take down walls and made the rooms bigger. They used white cabinets in the kitchen with glass at the tops and black counters in the kitchen.
By building them myself, I saved quite a bit of money and was able to add additional hardware to go along with their craftsman style look. We love working with James Hardie siding, not only because it is durable and beautiful, but because its clean lines are the perfect blend of modern and rustic. A little meditative, a little contemporary, this ranch-style home uses clever details and a pared-down color palette for sophisticated style.
The original floor plan was segmented into distinct rooms, which felt confining. The rooms receive extra tailoring with the addition of molding and trim. The family was not interested in keeping the formal dining room, wishing to instead have a large open kitchen for entertaining and communing. Ranch-style homes are a fixture in warm-weather climates, and landscaping should reflect that environment.
